Professor Mike Hurley is a physiotherapist, who was Lecturer, Reader and Professor at King’s College London between 1990-2010. In 2010 he became Research Lead in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at St George’s University of London and Clinical Director at Orthopedic Research UK. He has contributed to national working groups and clinical guideline committees, and authored over 100 papers.
A major part of his work was the development and evaluation of ESCAPE-pain – a rehabilitation programme to help people with knee and/or hip osteoarthritis, which is currently being rolled out in clinical and community centers across the UK. In 2021 it was the Winner of the Self Care Forum’s Self Care Innovation Awards for its excellence as an “outstanding programme integrating information, advice and exercise.”
